Mrs. Schroeder’s 5th grade social studies class is learning about the Constitution. They are focusing on the three branches of government and learning how important it is to be a citizen of the United States!
We had some very special guests for High Five Friday today!! Police Chief John Thomsen and Officer Lane Snyder from the Sac City Police Department greeted our student this morning!! We are proud to build a positive relationship with those people who protect and serve us on a daily basis. Thank you!!!
East Sac County Elementary students have accepted the challenge to read 216,000 steps for the 2023-2024 school year. They are reading at home and at school daily to reach this goal. In August and September, they have already read a total of 24,652 steps. In the lunchroom we have a Rainbow where we will color in each piece for every 6,000 steps (1 step is 15 minutes). It is awesome to see how much of the Rainbow we already have colored in for the year!!!
Yesterday was Senior Application Day at East Sac County! Seniors going to college or post-secondary programs were supported and encouraged to complete their applications on this day. 28 students completed a post-secondary application, 22 students had already completed an application on their own, and many of our seniors are planning to go directly into the workforce.
Mrs. Schroeder’s 6th grade social studies classes are learning about The Five Themes of Geography. Each group had to pick a country and present information to their peers through a google slide presentation. Students not only spent time researching, they also practiced their public speaking skills.

Today, Kindergarten-2nd graders were able to meet Pete the Cat. They earned this celebration in their classrooms by being SAFE, RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, & Kind the last few weeks of school. They listened to the book, Pete the Cat, I Love My White shoes, gave Pete a high five/fist bump, or hug, and colored a paper.

The East Sac County 1st Graders were each gifted a Reading Bear from the St. Paul's Quilters. A group of 10 ladies from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sac City who enjoy quilting got together and sewed together Reading Bears. These Reading Bears will serve as someone to read to each day at school. At the end of the school year, students will be able to take their Reading Bear home and keep them. Denise Opsal came to school to present the bears to the 1st graders. Thank you for this awesome donation!!!

This morning East Sac County 3rd graders were working on communication skills and working together in their morning meeting. These skills are a very important part of the education provided here at East Sac County! Nice job 3rd graders, way to be collaborative.
As part of the East Sac Preschool's continuing efforts to improve and enhance our program, we have some additions to our playground this year. In the spring, Mr. McCullough's Industrial Tech students constructed some raised bed gardens for us. We planted pumpkins, flowers and vegetable plants donated by the East Sac FFA's Horticulture class. This summer a rock was placed on the playground area for the students to climb and play on. The rock was generously donated by Jeff Wirtjers. Along with his expertise and equipment, he and Willy Osbourne lifted it over the fence and placed it on our grassy area. We are so grateful to everyone who donated and helped with this project! The students are definitely enjoying them! When people work together, great things happen for our kids!!! Thank you to all involved!!!
