Last Friday several of our Elementary classes took advantage of the nice weather to celebrate a well earned PBIS reward with a trip to the beautiful Sac City Park. Students are rewarded time to time after earning classroom Raider tickets for following directions, being active in their learning, and making positive choices to help the learning environment. When students take an active role in their learning, all students learn better. Thank you students for following school rules and making learning a priority when you are at school!!!
This Friday we will be having a Pep Rally/Send Off for our Boys Cross County Team as they run in the STATE meet on Saturday. Please join us if you wish!!!
East Sac County is having our annual BOOK FAIR NEXT WEEK during elementary conferences!
The book fair will be open during the school day Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and for Conferences Monday night and Thursday night. Students will make wish lists on Friday and Monday before conferences so parents have an idea of what their children would like.
Parents can set up an eWallet through scholastic so they do not have to send cash with their children, but cash, check and credit cards are always accepted.
Here is a video about setting up the eWallet: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/content/fairs/videos/introduction-to-ewallet.html

Touring the Human Sciences department at ISU and competing in the Iowa star events. Oliver Daggett participated in the grilled cheese challenge and Liam Daggett submitted a photo relating to Family and Consumer Sciences. Liam brought home the top honors for his photo and Oliver did well making a Grilled Za, grilled cheese with pepperoni, mozzarella and provolone cheese and Italian seasoned butter!
ESC Juniors had the opportunity to take part in DMACC Career Discovery Day at the Carroll Campus. Students were able to learn from area businesses by participating in a business tour of their choice and learn about careers in four different career sessions on campus. Career sessions ranged from automechanics, welding, cosmetology, fire science, nursing, business, and much more!
Big thank you to DMACC in Carroll for putting on such a valuable event for our students!
Teaching employability and work related skills are important to our district, our students, and our community!!!
In Personal Finance students learned all about careers from how to pick a career that is right for them, filling out applications, completing resumes, writing a cover letter, interviewing, and writing a thank you letter. In the following pictures students are shown completing their mock interviews. Students were to apply to an open sales associate position and interview for that same position. In order to make the process as real world as possible students interviewed each other while the other students in the classroom critiqued their interviews by writing positive aspects and things that need to be improved within the interview process. Students were to dress up and were graded on appearance, first impressions, interview content, interview technique/skills, and their closing. Students then were required to write a reflection about their interview. This was a great experience for the students; they were able to sit through an interview and get some real world experience before actually interviewing outside of school.
Kindergarteners in Miss Eidem's class love reading! Half of the class has already reached 100 steps and kids are always asking if they can read in place of other activities. Even though kids are just learning how to read, they are learning how fun and important reading is!
More RAIDER SUCCESS from the weekend!!! - This time in the FINE ARTS!
