Helping others is important! The East Sac County 5th/6th grade students had a homeroom competition to provide items for our district's Food Pantry. They collected items from Dec 11 - 18. There was an amazing and inspiring show of generosity among the students. They brought an assortment of food items as well as hygiene items. We allotted food items 1 point, hygiene items 2 points. The total from all of the homerooms was over 2,000 points. The students enjoyed the friendly competition. Ms. Schmidt's homeroom was the winner of the traveling trophy. Over the course of the food drive, teachers discussed the reason behind the holiday season and this seemed to motivate our students to do what they could to help others. They all agreed it was a great experience and a tradition we hope to continue next year.
