The 3rd graders recently traveled to Sioux City to enjoy some real world learning!
First, students went to the Sioux City Public Museum where they were able to participate in a scavenger hunt, learn about some of Iowa's history, and participate in a dinosaur fossil dig.
They then traveled to KTIV where they received a tour of the studio. Students were able to talk to the meteorologist and ask him questions about weather. They were then given the opportunity to go on the green screen! This was very exciting for them as they are currently working on a research project about different weather phenomenons. The 3rd graders were even able to countdown the newscast to go, "ON AIR," for the noon news! Lastly, they watched the producers work very hard behind the scenes.
Overall it was a GREAT experience for the students!

The meal was a great experience for students to practice their communication skills, dining etiquette and try new things. This opportunity gave the students a chance to consider culinary as a career option. Chef Michael joined the group at the end of their meal to chat and for a quick picture! The students enjoyed the 5-course meal and the opportunity to step outside their comfort zone!

East Sac County 2nd grade teachers received an email last month saying a family in Iowa wanted to gift 2nd grade students all over Iowa with a book about Caitlin Clark. Their hope is to inspire the kids to believe their future can be greater than they imagine. To not give up.
Yesterday, our 2nd graders received the book, read it, and watched a video from the author, Ally O. East Sac County 2nd graders are going to write a thank you note to the Jensen family for books. The school library also received a book that other students can check out and read it.
Information about the donation:
As the giving season approaches, the Jensen Family is excited to give the book, ‘Just Like Caitlin,' to EVERY second grader in the state of lowa. This book tells her story and includes many important life lessons like dreaming big, working hard, valuing relationships over winning and many more. Dickson and Luann Jensen are proud lowans, business owners, coaches, parents, and grandparents. They are proud of Caitlin and believe she is a great role model for all kids. Because of their love for children and desire to impact the next generation, they hope this book inspires kids to believe their future can be greater than they imagine.
The copy of the book is for each 2nd grade student to keep and enjoy!
The Jensen Family believes books and athletics are two incredible tools for
developing leaders and helping set kids up for successful futures. They hope each student enjoys this book and has a wonderful holiday season!
Thank you for the donation!

Senior Football Players stopped by the Sac City Subway to thank them for the donation of sub sandwiches this past fall for our road trip to Eagle Grove!
On Thursday, November 7th, the 5th and 6th grade students traveled to Des Moines for the Wild About Education Hockey Field Trip. With over 6,000 students in attendance, Wells Fargo Arena was full of energy and our students had a very memorable day!! They learned more about the sport of hockey, got to participate in fun and educational games during breaks, watch a science experiment, and show off their best dance moves on the jumbotron! A big THANK YOU to ESC PTO for purchasing the tickets for this great event!
East Sac County Schools will be presenting our fall play, Alice in Wonderland, this Friday and Saturday, November 15th and 16th, at 7:00 PM in Lake View. Admission will be $8 for adults, and $5 for students. No activity passes will be accepted. Plays and musicals provide great opportunities for our students to shine in the performing arts area, but they come with significant costs such as purchasing the performance rights, set design, and purchasing costumes; the admission costs help to offset those costs. Please attend a performance this weekend. A full audience is greatly appreciated by those who are performing!
